📣 Announcement! 📣It has long been a curiosity of mine to explore the world of theatre through the lens of research. So, I’m thrilled to share that I’ve been selected to take part in Tiny Human Dramas, happening 30–31 May in Manchester!
About the Initiative
This exciting project—led by Dr. Meghan Rose Donnelly and Dr. Alexandra D’Onofrio (lecturers in anthropology at the University of Manchester), along with Laura Sophie Helbig (freelance artist)—brings together anthropologists and artists to transform research into a short play… all in under 24 hours!
Why This Matters to Me
I’m so looking forward to this experience! I wanted to get involved because I deeply care about making research accessible—both inside and outside the classroom. I see ethnography as an evolving artistic practice that lives far beyond the written text.
This vision has inspired me to collaborate with Ben Thomas on an ethno-graphic novel (currently in progress), and with Pip Cree on an ethno-graphic film exploring the 'Drive to School' stateless children. I believe the arts are a powerful medium to evoke empathy and drive change. It truly brings me joy to engage with others who are reimagining what ethnography can be.
The Topics
This edition of Tiny Human Dramas will explore five themes:
Reincarnation stories in Druze communities
Hospice memories in London
Entrepreneurial overload in India
Nuclear decommissioning in Europe
Stateless children in Cambodia
Stay Tuned
I look forward to sharing more soon—including how you can join us in Manchester!
